Latest Reports

On Tuesday 25th October 2011 we made a presentation to Bourne Town Council on the history of the chapel, the situation leading to it’s current state, and our proposals to restore it. This was requested by us for the benefit of all the new councillors who recently joined the council. It is hoped that this information will spark informed debate within the council, and our hope is that this will help progress the project. The presentation was received very warmly by most who attended,

We have written to the Bourne Education Foundation to express an interest in restoring the Old Grammar School, we are still awaiting their response to our meeting request

The new councillors, elected recently, form a sizeable percentage of those 15 members (almost 50%) and we are now seeing a shift in the balance held by those who have served on the council for many years, this is a healthy situation for the council, and for the town. We are now watching to see what benefits the town will experience due to the new skills available in the council chamber.

Architect’s Condition Report

We supplied this report, prepared for us by Carl Andrews, of Soul Architects of Worksop, to the council in early December last year. The council decided recently to again take no action. We are grateful to ProHelp, and to Soul Architects for their superb support in securing this report for us. We now hope that Bourne Town Council will carry out their legal responsibility towards the chapel building.

Legal Assistance

Langleys of Lincoln have produced a lease for the cemetery chapel in conjunction with the council’s solicitors, Double & Megson of Bourne. This is currently sitting with Bourne Town Council awaiting their attention.

Holbeach Chapel Group

During 2010 we met with the group who are setting up to restore the Holbeach cemetery chapel, and we keep in touch with them.  We are on parallel paths, and we plan to benefit each other by that contact.
